Tweeting causes mayhem

This is my first ever blog so please criticize. I am going to try and base these off of bullying and how we can show our children the right way and not bully ourselves.

Today, as of typing this, is April 13th 2014. This morning a young 14 year old girl posted on Twitter "@americanAir hello my name's Ibrahim and I'm from Afghanistan. I'm part of Al Qaida and on June 1st I'm gonna do something really big bye" Now before I go on I want to express that I do not condone this. I do not think it is funny or anything but it is what happened after that has me writing about it.

American Airlines responded to the tweet "@queendemetriax_ Sarah, we take these threats very seriousl. Your IP address and details will be forwarded to security and the FBI."  This has gone viral today. Since this was posted Sarah has taken down the original tweet and responded back to them frantically telling them she is not from Al Qaida. you can read it all on twitter.

Now, Onto the point of this blog, The female who wrote the original tweet is 14 years old. Teenagers make mistakes. She has been getting hate mail all day for it. I give to you ladies & gentleman, a vile little cretin of a human being. Hope she gets locked up!" "the stupidity levels are sky high". I do not feel that posting the names are important of who said this but in looking at the twitter pages of the people these are both Adults. If we are trying to take bullying and more importantly cyber bullying out of the world We have to do it ourselves first.

We cannot teach children not to bully if we are doing it ourselves. Sarah stated right after that she understood that she had made a mistake. But, people are still sending these hate messages. There are many cases of cyber bullying that have started out as this and turned into a person completing suicide. The number 1 case of this in the media was Amanda Todd.

Once again this is a 14 year old girl who tweeted something and now has people bullying her online who don't even know her. Bullying in general needs to be stopped but it starts with the Adults learning first once that happens we can teach our children to not bully.

Thank you for reading.
